Tom Daschle has decided to withdraw his nomination for Health and Human Services Secretary. Isn't this what we were talking about in class today? As you recall the former senator had a major tax problem.
The big story coming out of the White House was to be about the nomination of another Republican for Obama's cabinet. What a story. Three Republicans in the cabinet?

Tom Daschle probably withdrew his nomination to help save his reputation. He knew that he was going to get a lot of stuff for what he did and decided to not tarnish his rep.
And for the New cabinent member, well i'm actually quite impressed.. i don't know what to think. i'm still not a fan of obama and not quite sure what his ultimate goal is but thats still pretty ballsy to have three republicans on your cabinent.
I would hhave to aqree with phil. Obama has real guts to choose republicans over democrats but it is also the right choice. The point of picking the cabinet is to choose the best candidate! And obviously Obama is doing his job if he choosing reps. over dems. because the reps. are better candidates.
I think Obama is doing a great job on his "honeymoon". He's passing some good policies. It is not his fault that people are leaving offices and positions.
I 100% agree with doe boy fresh. Obamas job is to pick the best candidate for the cabinet, not the best democrat for the cabinet. If he thinks a republican is better for the job, he deserves some credit for not picking a democrat just because of the party.
Just because Daschle withdrew his nomination, the honeymoon isn't over. Obama is trying, especially to make a bipartisan government. In this case, the honeymoon is going great--aren't honeymoons all about "goin' to work?"
