$500,000!!
How do you feel about President Obama's announcement that executives of companies receiving TARP funds will have their pay capped at $500,000 under a revised financial compensation plan.
You have to wonder how many bonuses were rewarded out of the first 350 billion dollars of the Troubled Asset Relief Program. Can these executives on Wall Street live on $500,000? What happens if they decide to leave their company? Do you think the companies can survive without them?

I do agree with the government being able to limit the pay of executives, but only if that company has recieved federal aid. Now that I think about it,I dont think that 500,000 is enough. If these highly trained executives leave thier companies, what will happen to those companies? The evil known is lesser than the unknown evil.
I believe 500,000 it plenty enough! It shouldnt matter if they leave the companies, $500,000 is enough to get them through and live off of.
I think that 500,000 is enough as long as everyone sticks around. If they start leaving because it isnt enough maybe they should think about bumping it up a little.
500,000 has to be enough to live on. I understand they have a higher standard of living, but they can always lower it and cut back. How many houses do they need?
I think that this is a good idea but if they have to pay a lot for things like property tax, mortgage payment, and bills for things that they already purchased, there might be some problems.
Ok well think of it this way. Who buys a lot of stuff? Rich people do. Who are the only people who have enough money to still buy stuff, Rich people. Rich people play a big part in this economy. They buy stuff which increases demand etc. So when our economy is failing, we are going to take pay away from the rich? Its not only about survival. 500,000 is plenty to live on by far, but the rich have bills too, BIG bills, so essentially, arnt we just bringing them down to our level? By making them struggle to make the next house payment? Does that seem right?
This is SIMPLE. If these executives decide to leave the companies, good for them. These companies will get young, inexperienced and a high possibility of poor leadership if these executives decide to go.
If you do not pay someone what they are worth, you WILL NOT get the best out of them.
Will this cause a change of "leadership" to "leadershit?" Only time will tell...
