Afghanistan , It's His War Now!

President Obama ordered two more U.S. combat brigades into Afghanistan, deploying 17,000 more troops to join the 36,000 already deployed there. The troops had been slated for Iraq. He said it was "necessary to stabilize a deteriorating situation in Afghanistan."

Afghanistan is getting worse and the sanctuaries across the border in Pakistan are becoming a bigger problem for the stability of Pakistani government

What should Obama do? Send more troops or increase talks with the Taliban?

I think that he needs to send more troops. He cant just pull out of afghanistan now after we have been helping for so long. send more troops to help stabilize the country and get the job over with faster

Well since we have been fighting in iraq all these years i dont believe by sending more troops would at all. No matter how much we send it seems like nothing is getting done. We should try something different and try talking to Taliban about this.

I'm okay with this deployment, but I think there should've been more negotiations and discussions with the top controllers of Afghanistan i.e. the druglords, Taliban & other gov't officials.

I'm wondering what "Obama-mama Christine" thinks about this. She was always big on criticizing Bush about war in class. What does she think of her Obama now that this is his war?

I cant believe what I'm reading here, increase negotiations with the Taliban? Are you serious! The HATE us! These are the people that destroyed the WTC, the same people that kidnapp the western press and cut their heads of on camera and you want to talk to them about it? We need to get our rear in gear and put these idiots down. Send in the troops! Here is another idea. Why doesnt the government set up contracts to increase our military's power. This would cause the companies in those contracts to hire more people which will help the economy. Our economy will get better and our military stronger! Thats a better idea than a stimulus package that increases research on crap and puts just 60 bucks more in our pockets a month. Thats what I think we should do. Negotiations won't do a darn thing with these people.

OK I do not agree with the deployment. I am against the war. There should be no more troops sent over there. I mean lets just kill more people right? That will solve everything! I think talking could help. That is what they should do first and if that does not work then come up with another plan, but not another deployment so more people can die.

Regardless if they hate us, nothing will get accomplished by having a military presence without in-depth discussions. In all reality, the Taliban runs Afghanistan. If there actually would end up being successful negotiations, the crisis is averted, the US improves foreign policy slightly and most of all, Obama gets all the credit.

How would your plan put 60 or more in everyone's pockets? By us spending more to increase troops--while making a stronger military? Sounds more to me like 60 or more less out of everyone's pockets.

I wasnt saying that my plan gives 60 bucks, I was talking about the stimulus package it says it right in the blog.

"Thats a better idea than a stimulus package that increases research on crap and puts just 60 bucks more in our pockets a month."

And also, my idea would help with the jobs lost by having companies make military equipment. Even if it would take money out of peoples pockets, they shouldnt complain! We are spending 700+ billion on bills that wont work, whats an extra 50 or 60 billion on the military?
