So how do you feel about our first full week of 2009? Has the political world changed any or does it feel about the same? Why was Roland Burris denied his Senate seat today? The 111th session of Congress sure is starting off in an interesting manner. I can't wait to find out who really won the seat in Minnesota. And what about the open Senate seat in New York?
How long will it take to pass a stimulus plan? Will it pass by Presidents' Day?
What do you hope for in 2009?

Corruption...Change...Stimulus...Scandal... Politically, the 1st week of '09 is quite interesting.
The political world changed drastically. With W. Bush there was a quite secretive administration that was "Bushie" based. Now were seeing a new administration under Obama being formed with both main parties in mind. It is also promising to be very open when conducting business.
Roland Burris was denied the empty Senate seat due to the Illinois secretary of state, Jesse White. It's Blagojevich's job to select the fill-in, but the secretary of state must also sign the appointment letter. White is unwilling to sign because there is a federal corruption investigation of Blagojevich.
Al Frankin wins the Senate seat in Minnesota over incumbent Norm Coleman. This was a tight race; Frankin won by 225 votes out of the total 2.9 million votes.
The open Senate seat in NY should be interesting to see who gets the job. If you look past the name, Caroline Kennedy could be a possible candidate for the job, though many people say she isn't qualified.
He was arrested for trying to sell the Senate seat. Of course he was impeached. He deserved it. He made a stupid decision and now he's going to have to deal with the consequences. Buh-bye Burris.
