Are You Experienced?

What do you say qualifies a politician? In the case of Caroline Kennedy, many say she is not qualified to be a New York Senator "just because she's a Kennedy..." So I'm wondering what qualifies a politician?

I would say that experience is really the only thing that can really truly qualify someone. Although everyone has to start somewhere I don't think it should be somewhere with so much power and pull. Everyone should have at least a little experience even if it just means being someones secretary or assistan for a couple years.

Now it depends. You have to have some experience in something. For example, in my opinion, you have to have some military experience in order to be president. For senator, I think you should have some state legislative experience. So, on a national level, I think a qualified politician should have experience on a state or even local level first.
