Save Detroit?

Can anyone rescue the U.S. automakers? Do you think Congress will give in to the auto industry? What about the Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, will he use any of the 350 billion left from the 700 billion to rescue the industry? Or should he rescue "main street" America with lower mortgage rates (a new deal) so they don't lose their homes? Is there anything the Big Three can do to make their products more attractive? So many problems, er questions. Whose problems are they anyway?

I still say that congress should NOT bailout Detroit, but I think the will. I do not see why we should bailout companies that have made bad choices. People blame their failure on the economy. Ok, I do admit that the economy is not what it could be, but look at history. We are not anywhere near as bad off as we were in the 70's, and guess what, they survived the 70's! But regardless, haven't you noticed another key factor? Other automakers, like Honda, Toyota, etc, are'nt doing as bad as Ford, GM, etc. Why? Because the other automakers are making better buisness choices. Its capitalism folks! This bailout, if you think about it, is a socialistic move. It is sending the messege to big companies that they can do whatever they want, the government will help if it all goes in the toilet. As for the big three, they just have to look at current trends, and go with them. Instead of making the MOST efficient car that is super expensive (volt), make many cars that are just efficient enough and cheap. Thats what Hondas doing! It seems to be working. Even if Darwinism is wrong about life, it sure is true about buisness.

I dont think we should bail out Detroit, but I do think we should help the homes. That is a more important issue than the automobile bail out. People that have the money to help out should be using it. If they can afford it why not? They could use their wealth to help out our nation, it doesnt have to be the government that is spending money on it.

Congress will not bail out the automakers of detroit. The 350 billion left should not be put on detroit. The auto industry is going to fail no matter what will happen. No one has the money to buy a new car at the moment. They are spending the money on more important things for every day life. The people who bought houses they coudnt afford in the first place dont need to be bailed out.Credit is the reason everyone is having such a problem in the economy today. No one has the money to pay of their debts.

No i do not believe they can do any thing else. There products are not selling and it is due to the economy. The economy is showing no signs of improvement so the auto companies will not improve
