"Pay to Play"
The governor of Illinois (Mr. Blagojevich) is under federal arrest for what's being called a "new low" in political corruption. Do you think he was trying to sell the Senate seat vacated by President-Elect Obama? Or is this politics as usual? Did you hear what it was "selling" for on E-Bay? What do you think will happen in Illinois? Should they hold a special election?

i think this thing is just blown all out of portion as usaul. its just politics and the watchdogs are tryin to find anything right now. politics
These days Politics=Corruption. Which if CNN=Politics, hmmmm. Just kidding. Anyway, selling seats in the senate has been going on for centuries. Just look in the book at the political cartoon for ch12. The senate was the millionares club. I think they should hold a special election. Call me old fashioned, but I like Democracy.
I agree with alec a special election would be most far. This event is seriously getting out of proportion.
i agree with gummybear101 that the media is making a much bigger deal out of this than they should be. it really isnt that big of a deal that he supposedly wants to sell it

As governor in Illinois, it is Blagojevich's job to select a Senator to fill President-Elect Obama's now empty seat. However he chooses to fill this seat is up to his discretion. If he would like to sell it, SO BE IT. He's doing his job, thus it is not corrupt. This "scandal" is a result of politicking at it's best. He is only guilty of having a comfortable PRIVATE conversation about a prospective payday. Was this situation wrong or corrupt? It may be wrong or corrupt in some eyes, but technically, no.
... one more thing, gummy's right that this is WAY out of proportion, Pilot's wants what he shouldn't have (special election) & finally, Blagojevich does want to sell it so packerfan is misunderstanding the situation.
Its nothing new really. This always happens. Why bother messing with it now? Its just politics. Nothing can be done about it and nothing will. So people need to get over that and live with it.
