The Catholic bishop of South Bend, Indiana will not attend graduation ceremonies at the University of Notre Dame because he disagrees with the stem-cell research and abortion views of the commencement speaker - President Obama.
Earlier this month Obama reversed a federal ban on embryonic stem-cell research that many scientists say the research could lead to advances in treating conditions like Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
What do you think?

If the bishop wants to not show, so be it. He's being political due to the presence of the president. It's alright with me, although it seems a bit disrespectful that he won't show for the ceremonies just because of a political dislike.
I think thats pretty ridiculous hes not showing up. He needs to be there. Even if he doesnt like Obama's views on abortion and stem-cell research, that shouldnt give him a reason to not attend. I agree with chips thats disrespectful. Im sure lots of people in the country disagree with at least one thing Obama believes. If everyone thought like this bishop, Obama would probably be the only one to show up
GO STATE!
This whole thing is out of control to be honest. I agree with milksm if he doesnt want to show that is his decision. But not showing up because of a political view is just tasteless. The school should be honored that the president of the United States is going to be there!
I don't blame the bishop at all. Its completell against his belief an would be hypicritical for him to show up. I would not go either. I don't know too much about the stem cell research but i still do not agree with most of Obamas views and it is the bishops duty to do what he is doing. The monks in Tibet are perfect examples of religious leaders taking charge of A corrupt government.
It wouldn't be hypocritical if the bishop showed up. It's not like he's going to an Obama run stem cell support rally. It's commencement. Think about it like this Phil. You're graduating from East & out of the blue Obama wants to show up. So, your parents decide to change their plans and not go, leaving you to graduate without your family witnessing it.
