Motor City "Breakdown"

Should the government bail out the auto industry? If so, who's next? How about "Joe the ..."?

I don't believe that they should bailout the auto industry. Why would it change anything, would they now succeed? i haven't seen any changes made, and if they don't succeed then maybe new opportunnities for new businesses with "smarter" investers may arise to be more prosperous for the country.

They shouldn't be bailedout at all, the companies need to make changes for themselves.

I think that the government should bailout the auto industry. Without the bailout the auto industry will prob. fail and then the little jobs that are left in the U.S. will disappear making the economy even worse. So if people care about making the economy better they will support the bailout.

there should be no need for a bailout in the auto industry. the auto makers have been put in a hole. they need to be americans and work to climb out the american way. we need to step up and stop the foreign reign on america in the auto industries

A bailout should not be created for the auto industry. The industry put themselves into the current mess they are in. The major problem the auto industry is crying about is not being able to sell their cars. So if any support is made at all, have some of the $700 billion that was made for bad loans be put into creating incentives for banks making loans to car buyers. That would keep American principles of the spoils system and equal business opportunity. Every car company, not just the big 3, would be receiving an equal push to sell vehicles and make a profit. A bailout would put money into an industry that I believe will not utilize it correctly. Last resort, there is always Chapter 11 to "bail" them out.
