To debate or not to debate?

Why is John McCain refusing to debate? Is it a political stunt or is he too busy dealing with the nation's financial crisis?

I think that it is a little bit of both. McCain isn't really prepared for a debate, but he is also occupied with the countries financial crisis.

McCain is using the proposal as a political tool to win even more votes from the Republican Party. Both Obama and McCain are in Washington meeting with President Bush. McCain should be apart of the Debate today, because it would seem as though he is not prepared for becoming President for the United States if he can only focus on one issue at a time.

I think McCain refusing to debate because he is too concerned about the economy is just a political stunt because he is behind in the polls and if he shows that he cares more about the economy then running for president it might give him a better chance of winning.

McCain is scared

McCain has always seemed to put the country first ahead of political party interests, which is one reason some Republicans don't support him. It would fit with his character and prior attitude to truly be putting the country ahead of his campaign.

I think that McCain just isn't ready. He probably needs more time to get all his arguments together. I think he is getting nervous that Obama just might jump ahead of him because of this debate. I don't really think it is a political stunt though.

I think that McCain knows that the economy is something that has to be delt with right now and you can't keep putting it off. The debate is just the a TV thing that shows what the candidates want so seeing that McCain cares about our country and not as much about what people think of him means more

i think mccain is using it as a smoke screen to steer us away from something bigger he wants to get an edge and trow obama off his game

i think that he sees that our economy is more important than a debate. hes been pushing obama for a debate for a while now so i dont think that it is a political stunt. hes putting the important thing first.

i believe that he should debate. he made a commitment to this campaign and shoulf stick with it. if he doesnt debate it could show a sign of weakness in his campaign and in his party

No! If you have watched both candidates McCain has been trying to get a devate for a long time, but Obama never agreed. I think that he truly wants to resolve this crisis.

I think mccain is worried about the economy more than a debate. Which is a very good thing if you want to become president

I think the debate topic is a stunt because altering the debate schedule would hardly serve voters. If anything, debates are most valuable at times of national crisis, because voters need to hear candidates highlight their policy differences.

even if he is more concerned about the economy than the debate that wont matter becuase this is gonna hurt him by chickening out on a debate and not showin up

I agree with Doe, if voters want to make a wise choice they need to hear from the Candidates at this most crucial time.

i think that McCain is truly concerned about this bill being negotiated and pushed through. he isn't just stalling or avoiding a face to face with Obama. unfortunately, Friday is here and the bills is still just a proposal and not anything concrete

I think not going to the debate will hurt him on the liberal side, but I think that since he knows that liberals don't even like him it won't matter not going to the debate because it could be good for the conservative side which he gets the most support from anyways.

the only thing that he has to worry about, if he doesn't go to the debate, is that he might not get the vote of those who are on the fence right now. election day is getting closer and these people are looking for their candidate.

well thats true. i mean the more liberal people wont like himj not showing up and the more conservative might like it. even if they are on the fence.
